UC College is dedicated to making quality university education accessible to all, specialising in preparing both Australian and international students for successful university study. The College offers a range of preparatory programs, including English Language Intensive Course for Overseas Students (ELICOS), which are designed to equip students with the academic and language skills needed for university success.
Job Description
We are currently seeking dedicated ELICOS teachers to join our dynamic ELICOS teaching team. This role involves delivering high-quality English language teaching and contributing to the supportive and inclusive learning environment that UC College prides itself on.
Essential
Applicants must:
- Have full working rights in Australia, as this role does not offer sponsorship for visas.
- Be available in Canberra from 3 November 2025 to 6 February 2026.
The successful candidate will teach Academic English 4 Level (IELTS 6.0-7.0) classes and may also be required to teach across various levels of our ELICOS programs. Teaching responsibilities will primarily involve international student cohorts and, on occasion, a mix of domestic and international students. The focus will be on developing comprehensive English language skills, including reading, writing, listening, speaking, and research abilities.
Given the casual nature of this position, the working hours and patterns may vary weekly.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree in any field
- Hold a recognised Certificate IV in TESOL
- Demonstrated ability to teach effectively in ELICOS programs utilising a variety of methodologies, resources and technologies.
- Demonstrated high-level communication skills and the ability to work in a team of teachers, academic leaders and other staff.
- Experience working with students of diverse linguistic and cultural backgrounds, demonstrating cultural sensitivity and inclusiveness.
- Demonstrated proficiency in electronic information management systems such as Moodle, Canvas and Microsoft Excel.
- Must hold an ACT Working with Vulnerable People (WWVP) registration or show evidence of an application for registration prior to commencement
- Demonstrated understanding of and commitment to principles of equity and health and safety in the workplace.
Desirable
- Understanding of the ESOS Act and student visa requirements (if appropriate)
- Demonstrated engagement in professional development, scholarly activities and scholarship.
