ESL Job in Taiwan
We are hiring enthusiastic individuals to teach English in Kaohsiung, Taiwan.
The city:
Kaohsiung is the largest city in southern Taiwan, but still maintains a laid-back feel that balances the charms of an international and a Taiwanese city. Nature lovers will enjoy having Cijin Beach, Monkey Mountain, Lotus Pond, and coral reefs within the city limits, all of which can be enjoyed year-round thanks to Kaohsiung’s tropical weather. History and culture buffs will have a wealth of monuments, museums, and performing arts venues to explore, including the palatial Fo Guang Shan monastery. The city’s wide boulevards are lined with great restaurants, coffee shops, department stores, and traditional markets. Taiwan’s highest peaks and southern beach towns are within easy reach, and the high-speed rail and airport put the rest of Taiwan within easy reach. The expat community in Kaohsiung is close-knit, and Taiwan’s reputation for friendliness largely comes from Kaohsiung and the south.
All this can be enjoyed for a cost-of-living that is lower than Taiwan’s other major cities.
The job:
You will plan and teach lessons to young learners, grade homework and tests, and prepare students for performances and cultural events. No prior experience is necessary – you will have access to training throughout your time with us, as well as immigration and onboarding assistance before you start teaching. To qualify, you must hold a bachelor’s degree or higher, be able to pass a criminal record check, and hold a passport from a country where English is an official language (the United States, the United Kingdom, New Zealand, Ireland, Canada, Australia, etc.). Our teaching positions are full-time and require a commitment of one year, with the possibility of renewing beyond that year. An internationally recognised TESOL Certificate will also be required.
The perks:
You will receive competitive pay (up to 700 NTD per teaching hour), guaranteed hours (at least 20 teaching hours per week), and a monthly stipend for completing administrative work. You will also enjoy flexible time off, sick leave, and enrollment in Taiwan’s National Health Insurance program, as well as annual raise evaluations and bonuses. In addition to immigration assistance and training, teachers who stay on beyond one year may have opportunities to become the head teacher of a school or work alongside our curriculum development, recruitment, and training teams.
