English as a Second Language (ESL) Teacher – QUT College
Who are we looking for?
Successful candidates will need to be available to:
- Teach face-to-face timetabled ESL classes on the Programs offered by QUT College:o General English (GE).
o English for Academic Purposes (EAP) – Direct Faculty Entry Program.
o IELTS Advanced Exam Preparation.
o Study Tours. - Teach 1, 2, 3, 4 or 5 days per week on either the Early (8:30am-1:00pm) or Late (1:00-5:30pm) shift.
- Invigilate and participate in language proficiency assessment including progress, in-course and end-of-course evaluation.
- Participate in staff meetings and orientation as required.
- Assist with course administration and student consultation, including Academic Integrity counselling in compliance with the QUTC Academic

QUT College delivers English Language, University Entrance and Foundation programs to international and domestic students with an emphasis on pathways to QUT faculty programs. QUT College comprises two suites of programs, English Language and University Entry Programs to assist students to meet English Language and/or academic entry requirements for university degree programs, as well as to improve their English for personal, professional or academic purposes.
What do you need to succeed?
- A diploma/degree plus a Certificate IV in TESOL and equivalent of two years teaching experience.
- Expert knowledge of English language teaching to speakers of other languages and demonstrated high standard of teaching across a range of English Language proficiency levels and programs.
- Experience in English language proficiency assessment, student progress evaluation, testing and marking and program administration, especially student attendance recording requirements pursuant to Australian Federal legislation.
- Demonstrated ability to work as part of team using high level interpersonal communication skills to work collaboratively with colleagues.
- The flexibility and pragmatism required to work effectively in a dynamic and changeable teaching environment.
